Selenite cleansing sticks are pretty to use with your crystal charging station, cleansing newly acquired crystals to simply have in space or for decoration. They are completely multi-functional.
I use them in multiple ways:
- With my soil charging station
- Displayed as decoration with some of my other crystals
- Meditation
- To simply hold or have with me
It can be used in many ways. However, I do not recommend wearing it. The stone itself is brittle. It is ranked 2 on the Mohs scale. For instance, you can damage it with your nails even, and it won’t even damage your nail.
Also, the stone can be damaged by liquid; any sweat or water on the stone can cause it to melt. Any crystal that ends with -ite should not be worn and kept from the water!
That is why I love making these selenite sticks. It is a great way to use the properties of this crystal.
This article is all about selenite and the selenite stick Do-It-Yourself (DIY) manual.
Selenite Properties
Selenite brings clarity of mind by opening the crown chakra and accessing angelic consciousness and higher guidance. This crystal clears confusion and aids in seeing the more profound meaning. It stabilizes and disperses erratic emotions.
It instills deep peace, which makes this a beautiful stone for meditation. If you find that you are not feeling the greatest or your mind is all over the place, grab this crystal before you start your meditation. It is marvelous at clearing your mind and grounding you in peace.
You can simply just hold or place it before you while meditating. I do not recommend wearing this crystal in a piece of jewelry because it dissolves when it gets wet. Getting caught in the rain or simply sweating with this can cause it to start dissolving.
Other crystals can also be cleaned with it. Simply have it touch or within the same container as the crystals you want to cleanse and leave it for 24 hours.
Other Cleansing Crystals That Work Well with Selenite
Crystals such as clear quartz, carnelian, and selenite can cleanse other crystals. This is exceptionally great for cleansing delicate and friable stones.
However, following the cleansing, these crystals may need to be cleaned. Due to selenite being a delicate crystal, you must be careful how you cleanse and recharge it. I use it to cleanse other crystals and then use my carnelian to cleanse the selenite. Carnelian is considered self-cleaning.
Carnelian
Carnelian is incredibly stabilizing with high energy, which is excellent at restoring vitality and motivation. Another attribute is its ability to cleanse away the day and re-invigorate your strength with the promise of something new. Other crystals can be cleansed with carnelian as well.
This crystal is astounding to use in meditation because it can remove extraneous thoughts and grounds and anchor you in the present reality. It sharpens your concentration and sheds mental lethargy. It is a Powerful protector against envy, rage, and resentment, whether it is yours or someone else’s.
Carnelian works best when placed on the skin or near the front door to invoke protection and invite abundance into your home.
Other attributes:
- Stimulates creativity
- Promotes courage
- Useful for overcoming abuse of any kind
Clear Quartz
Clear quartz is a well-known beautiful crystal with excellent cleansing properties. However, unlike carnelian, it is not self-sufficient. You will have to cleanse it after you use it to cleanse other crystals.
Luckily, clear quartz is a hard crystal. There are no stipulations to cleanse this crystal. You can simply put it under running water or in seawater. If you are interested in other ways to cleanse crystals, check out my article, How To Utilize Crystals, to learn more.
Some Attributes:
- Absorbs, stores, releases, and regulates energy and is excellent for unblocking it
- Aids concentration and unlocks memory
- Working on all levels of raising energy to the highest possible level
Before We Start Making Our Selenite Cleansing Sticks
As I previously stated, selenite is pretty brittle and can chip easily. Therefore, 26- or 28-gauge soft wire is recommended for this DIY selenite stick. So, either pure soft copper or you can use craft-colored wire. Those tend to be on the softer side.
For my version, I use pure copper. I find the color absolutely beautiful and love the look when it naturally oxidizes. If you like the bright copper look, get the craft wire version. That wire is specifically treated to not oxidize as quickly as pure untreated copper.
Selenite sticks come in all sorts of sizes. The length of copper you may need could vary from the amount I use. Therefore, I recommend an excellent copper length on your stick. It should be at least 4 to 6 times the length of your selenite stick, depending on the thickness of your selenite stick.
If your stick is on the thinner side, you could get away with 4 times the length, but if it is a thicker stick, do 5 to 6 times the length. If you are unsure, just do 6 times the length of the selenite stick to be on the safe side.
This process was done with selenite sticks of varying sizes. And I found that I would instead use more wire than needed than get to the end of my project to figure out if I made it too short. Just some food for thought.
Now, let’s get started!
DIY Selenite Cleansing Stick
Materials
- Selenite Stick
- 26- Gauge soft wire
- Wire cutter
- Carnelian gemstone chip beads
- Measuring tape or ruler
Instructions
- Grab your selenite stick and observe it. Depending on the thickness of the stick, determine whether you should make the wire length 4 to 6 times the length of the selenite stick.
- Thicker selenite sticks should use wire 5-6 times the length of the selenite stick, while thinner should use 4-5 times the length of your selenite stick.
- Measure the selenite stick with the measuring tape or ruler
- Multiply that length by the factor you’ve decided in step 1
- Ex) selenite stick in thin and 4 inches long. I chose to multiply by 4. The wire length I’ll use is 16 inches
- Measure the wire length decided in step 3 and cut the wire with the wire clippers.
- Wrap and secure the wire onto one end of the selenite stick.
- Add your gemstone chips while wrapping the wire around the selenite stick.
- Add as many or as few of the gemstone chips as you would like.
- Once you get to the end, close it off by looping the finishing wire through the wire on the stick like below.
You are finished! Now you have your selenite cleansing stick.
Enjoy Your Selenite Cleansing Stick!
This can be done with any gemstone chip beads of your choice. I recommend carnelian due to the properties of this crystal. But if you would like other gemstones, have at it!
I have created these selenite sticks with other types of crystals too. They are more so for decoration.
These are so pretty and versatile. Use the smaller ones to keep in your bag or your car. They can go anywhere, but remember that these crystals are more delicate than other hard ones.
